Extreme Love

“All Your Mind” – Jonah 1-4

“And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength.  The second is equally important; Love your neighbor as yourself.  No other commandment is greater than these"
Mark 12:30-31 (NLT)

What We Can Learn From Jonah’s Mistakes –

 Jonah rejected God’s plan and did things his own way –   “But Jonah got up and went in the opposite direction in order to get away from the Lord…”  Jonah 1:3 (NLT)

 Jonah waited until his life was falling apart before he called out to God – “He said, "I cried out to the Lord in my great trouble…”  Jonah 2:2 (NLT)  "When I had lost all hope, I turned my thoughts once more to the Lord...”  Jonah 2:7 (NLT)

 Jonah said, “I told You so,” to God – “This change of plans upset Jonah, and he became very angry.   So he complained to the Lord about it…"  Jonah 4:1-2 (NLT)

 Jonah had a “me-centered” perspective -  “Then the Lord said, "You feel sorry about the plant, though you did nothing to put it there…But Nineveh has more than 120,000 people living in spiritual darkness, not to mention all the animals. Shouldn't I feel sorry for such a great city?"  Jonah 4:10-11 (NLT)

The Promise of Loving God with All Our Minds –

“You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, whose thoughts are fixed on you!”  Isaiah 26:3 (NLT)

Passages to Look Up and Apply This Week –

Hebrews 8:10, 1 Chronicles28:9, Romans 8:6, 1 Corinthians 2:16, Romans 12:12  & Philippians 4:8

Prayer – Lord Jesus, thank You for keeping me in perfect peace when my mind is devoted to you.  Give me the strength not to make the mistakes Jonah made, but transform my life by changing the way I think.  Help me love You with all that I am, all that I have and all that I do.  Amen.
