Relationships That Last a Lifetime
1 Corinthians 13:7-8
[7] Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.
[8] Love will last forever, but prophecy and speaking in unknown languages and special knowledge will all disappear.
Meaningful Relationships “bear all things”
Option One: You can express your disappointment to the point of demeaning their character and deflating their spirit. Rather than restoring and rebuilding their character, this tends to damage the person’s sense of worth.
Option Two: You can belittle them for embarrassing you. This is a common response of parents toward their children’s failure.
Option Three: You can minimize their hurt, their shame, their embarrassment, and their pain by lovingly and protectively supporting them and restoring them over time.
This is exactly what Peter meant when he wrote 1 Peter 4:8, “Love covers a multitude of sins.”
With the exception of Jesus, the best illustration of this truth is the stepfather of the Lord. Matthew 1:18-24
Love “believes all things.”
Love “hopes all things.”
Love “endures all things”
